Kekecohan berlaku bila satu kumpulan anti-Anwar dalam lingkungan 50 orang yang berhimpun di hadapan Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan yang tidak disenangi oleh penyokong2 Anwar Ibrahim yang hadir ke Mahkamah Tinggi jalan Duta bagi mendengar keputusan penghakiman kes liwat Ketua Pembangkang tersebut.
Kumpulan anti-Anwar (berbaju kuning) yang pada mulanya berhimpun secara aman, telah diprovok dan diserang oleh penyokong-penyokong Anwar sebelum mereka berundur berlindung di dalam kawasan masjid. Kejadian di atas berlaku beberapa minit sebelum berita pembebasan Anwar dari tuduhan meliwat Saiful Bukhari Azlan tersebar.
